The weird and wonderful

today has been a weird day. strange people on the phone at work and some random and eye opening conversations on communicator! its been one of those days when nothing surprises you. aliens could land in the car park and youd shrug and accept it.i dea with the public a lot in my job and it constantly surprises me how thoroughly nasty people can be when on the phone!i think we've lost the ability to deal with each other politely these days and how to treat people with comon courtesy. perhaps its because of the short sharp communications of todays tech savvy society. we want everything and we want it now!we feel we're entitled to it and deserve it. we need to remember that at the other end of that tech is another human being. ok rant over.cya later

Returning to base

This blog is called "Thinking Mobile" and its called that for a reason. Originally the idea was to blog my thoughts from my mobile phone. It could be about anything, just the simple musings and random thoughts of that particular time. It would get me writing more often and help me try out ideas etc. Its gotten away from tgat lately so its time to "return to base". Expect more frequent updates rhough probably shorter as well. The battery on my phone is getting low so thats all for now. Cya later!

These are not the droids your looking for....yes they are dammit!

There always seems to be some big battle going on in the world of tech. VHS vs Betamax, PS3 vs Xbox, Sega vs Nintendo etc and the big one just now Apple vs Android. Two mobile phone platforms that build up such loyalty from their users along with a vehement hatred for the "other side". Me personally, I've been on the side of Apple for quite some time now. Which has lead to a lot of ribbing from one Mandy Edgar amongst others. The way I look at it is I cant say for definite which is better until I've tried both. So, having had an Apple iPhone for at least 2 years I made the decision that it was time to try Android.
My phone was due for an upgrade and, seen as I wasn't that impressed with the Apple iPhone 5, decided that I'd go for an android phone and try it out for at least a year. simple right? Hmm not so much! If you decide to go for Apples IOS on your phone its easy, pick an iPhone. You can have either the brand new shiny model or a slightly older one.You have the choice of about 3 different phones all which can run the same version of IOS. (though older models might struggle with the latest version).  Go for Android however and its a lot more complicated! There are hundreds of phones to choose from all with various different versions of the system which for some reason I'm sure makes sense to someone,  aren't labelled numerically, such as version 1,2 or 3 its version ice cream sandwich, gingerbread, jelly bean etc. Now that's fine if I'm ordering a snack but for my phone operating system how are you supposed to tell which version is the latest? I decided the best option was to pick a phone I liked the look of regardless of which sugary snack was powering it and go with that. After much browsing around my local phone shops and being hassled by the strange mix of shop assistants (they either look about 12 or like an extra from the nerd herd) I decided the phone I wanted was the Sony Xperia T. I chose this phone for a number of reasons. Firstly, it wasn't the size of a concrete slab, which most of the top of the range Android phones tend to be. Secondly, at £240 it was reasonably cheap on the O2 refresh tariff meaning I could pay it off within 12 months if I wanted. The third reason was the Sony Smartwatch. This is a Bluetooth device, similar in shape to the older ipod nano, which connects to any phone running android and allows you to control the phone from the watch. There simply isn't anything like that with the same functionality for the iPhone. Yes, apple fans have had rumours of the mythical iWatch  for quite some time now but its not been confirmed yet so lives in the make believe land of  unicorns and fluffy dragons!
So, I knew what phone I wanted, i knew what tariff I wanted and I had been offered a nearly new, never out of the box, Smartwatch by Allan McGill for a really good price! now all I had to do was go to my local O2 store, sign the paper work and go off into the mysterious world of Android. Yeah, it wasn't quite that easy! I'll tell you about that in the next blog. cya later

Return to blog land

Decided its time I started writing again and part of that means doing this blog! Course whenever I do this I never know what to write and how long I'll write for, so lets see how it goes. I think we'll start small and build it up. With that in mind that's all for now. Night night.
